Lemmen, Georges

1865 – 1913
Belgian

Born outside of Brussels, in the suburb of Schaerbeek, Georges Lemmen studied at the classical Académie Royale des Beaux Arts before joining the avant garde group “Les XX”.  Working alongside contemporaries such as James Ensor and Théo van Rysselberghe, Lemmen made his mark bridging the Symbolist and Art Nouveau Movements with a small but beautiful œuvre of prints and posters that both quiet and strong.
