Houdard, Charles
1855 – 1931
French
Charles-Louis Houdard is best known for his magnificent color etchings, many incorporating elements of Japonism in the composition. He was a regular participant in the Salon of the Société de la Gravure Originale en Couleurs from its debut until 1912 and was represented by the legendary art dealer Georges Petit. Houdard was a superb colorist and his prints possess a painterly quality rarely achieved in the medium.
