Kasimir, Luigi

1881 – 1962
Austrian

The Austrian artist Luigi Kasimir is best known for his color etchings of landscapes and urban scenes. In fact, he was a pioneer in the process of printing etchings color by color rather than applying the color by hand or applying all the colors on the plate at once. Kasimir created many views of Austria and Germany, and also drew inspiration from his travels particularly a cross country tour of the United States. Interestingly, he made an ex-libris for Sigmund Freud who also had an etching by Kasimir hanging in his consultation room!
