Although the term "Victorian" can bring visions of overly stern morality and
rigidity, the Victorian Era was actually one of tremendous growth and creativity
in both Europe and America. Widespread prosperity and increased travel to other
lands lead to expansion and diversity in art, literature and culture. The vision
of elegant Victorian ladies and gentlemen is represented here with works by
Henri Boutet, James Tissot,
James Whistler, and others.
